Recap: Carlynton Cougars vs. New Brighton Lions
The Carlynton Cougars gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past New Brighton 46-43. That's another feather in the cap for Carlynton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carlynton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Moldovan, who scored 9 points. Julian Torres was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 rebounds.
Carlynton's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for New Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Carlynton will be playing in front of their home fans against Quaker Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Quaker Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for New Brighton, they will head out on the road to face off against Hopewell at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopewell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Brighton in Pennsylvania (Hopewell is ranked 15th, while New Brighton is ranked 122nd).
