Softball Recap: Athens Drive Comes Up Short

Athens Drive was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 8-1 to the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 last Monday.

Isabelle Catalano was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Athens Drive's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Athens Drive will face off against rival Broughton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons is set to challenge their familiar foe Sanderson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
