After a string of four wins, McLane's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 71-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Justin Garza Guardians. The Highlanders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Guardians earlier this season, when they won 67-51.

McLane's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keyvon Burcher, who went 12 of 18 en route to 28 points. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Simon, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks.

McLane's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9. As for Justin Garza, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLane will face off against Madera at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Madera will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something McLane surely won't give up without a fight. As for Justin Garza, they will square off against Sanger West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Justin Garza knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Sanger West likes a good challenge.
