Basketball Game Preview: Wallkill Panthers vs. Chester Hambletonians

The Wallkill Panthers and the Chester Hambletonians will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Wallkill ended up a good deal behind Saugerties and lost 66-48. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Sawyers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite their loss, Wallkill saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alex Marshall, who posted 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Moses Hunter, who earned seven points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Chester's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Tuesday. They fell 61-49 to Burke Catholic. The matchup marked the Hambletonians' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Chester fell to 4-1. As for Wallkill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Wallkill might still be hurting after the 65-44 loss they got from Chester when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Wallkill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
