Basketball Recap: Spencer Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Spencer won the last time they faced Kendrick and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spencer Greenwave took down the Kendrick Cherokees 73-55. Given the Greenwave's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Cherokees are ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Spencer's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kerry Griffin, who posted 23 points and five rebounds. Griffin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Joshua Seldon was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

Spencer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.

Kendrick's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Harris, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Cash Elder, who put up nine points and three steals.

Spencer is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Kendrick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-3.

Spencer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 77-28 loss against Carver on the 11th. Kendrick has also already played their next contest, a 60-40 defeat against Shaw on the 14th.
