Baseball Recap: Rancho's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Western typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Rancho proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Rams have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Paulson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Paulson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Ramos, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Ramos is becoming a predictor of Rancho's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Another was Ronaldo Alvarez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Rancho hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Rancho, bringing their record up to 10-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Western, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-6.

Rancho wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-3 defeat against Durango on the 14th. As for Western, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 30-0 victory against Valley on the 11th.
