Softball Recap: Grace Twente Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cajon

Redlands East Valley took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Cajon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats never let the Cowboys get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 18th.

The result came thanks to Piper Silvestre's shutout, as she gave up just a hit.

At the plate, Redlands East Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Twente, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Twente has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Redlands East Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Redlands East Valley's record now sits at 9-15. As for Cajon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13.

Looking ahead, Redlands East Valley is taking a road trip to take on Yucaipa at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunderbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cajon, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Redlands at 4:00 p.m. The Cowboys are facing the Terriers at the right time seeing as the Terriers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
