After a string of five wins, Blake's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oak Ridge Pioneers.
Blake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Johnson, who posted 19 points. Joshua Lewis was another key player, putting up 13 points and eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Blake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Ridge only pulled down six offensive boards.
Oak Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamier Jones led the charge by going 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Jones' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jalen Reece, who went 7 of 13 en route to 21 points and seven rebounds.
Blake's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Oak Ridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.
