Baseball Game Preview: Fort Meade Miners vs. Trenton Tigers

For the second straight game, Fort Meade will face off against Trenton. The Miners will square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fort Meade 3.8, Trenton 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fort Meade heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Monday. They fell just short of Trenton by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Miners couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Trenton's part, Jordan Marlo and Pierson Weatherilt did most of the damage at the plate: Marlo went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Weatherilt went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Trenton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Trenton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Meade, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-13.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fort Meade has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts.
