Lakes took a 13-run defeat the last time they faced off against Richmond-Burton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles skirted past the Rockets 7-5. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 14-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Eryn Oleson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Lakes' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was McKenzie Matzl, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those stolen bases were Matzl's first of the season.

Matzl wasn't the only one making solid contact: Lakes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

The victory got Lakes back to even at 3-3. As for Richmond-Burton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4-1 record this season.

Lakes will take on Round Lake at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richmond-Burton, they will challenge Winnebago at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
