Basketball Game Preview: Southern Raiders vs. Weeping Water Indians

The Southern Raiders will take on the Weeping Water Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Southern was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-38 to Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Titans: they've now lost three in a row.

Weeping Water has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 50-41 to Johnson County Central/Lewiston on Saturday. The game was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but the Indians couldn't quite close it out.

Southern will have to contain Kalison Miller as she made an impact in Weeping Water's last game. She posted 26 points. Kallie Brack was another key player, putting up six points.

Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Weeping Water, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Southern was dealt a bruising 66-11 defeat at the hands of Weeping Water in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Southern was down 39-9.
