Basketball Recap: Aniyah Anthony's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tri-West Hendricks over Mccutcheon

If Tri-West Hendricks was feeling good fresh off their 55-27 takedown of Cascade last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins lost to the McCutcheon Mavericks on the road by a 67-51 margin on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bruins of the 65-30 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Tri-West Hendricks' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniyah Anthony, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 21 points. Anthony is becoming a predictor of the Bruins' success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). Blair Benner was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

McCutcheon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lillie Graves out in front who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave Graves a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keara Lipscomb-Allen, who posted 17 points and three steals.

Tri-West Hendricks has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for McCutcheon, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
