Basketball Game Preview: Blue River Valley Vikings vs. Knightstown Panthers

The Blue River Valley Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Knightstown Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Blue River Valley and nine for Knightstown.

Blue River Valley came up short against Union City on Saturday, falling 61-39.

Meanwhile, Knightstown played a tough match last Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Rushville 64-32. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-9.

Blue River Valley will need focus on slowing down Derius Moore, one of several Knightstown players who made an impact when they last played. He posted two points along with five rebounds, four blocks, and three steals. Those three steals gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brant Ellis, who put up eight points.

Blue River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Knightstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Blue River Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Knightstown when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 52-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue River Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
