Cocke County waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the South Greene Rebels 58-34. Given the Fighting Cocks' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Rebels are ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cocke County found their leader in sophomore Karmine Carmichael, who posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blakelyn Clevenger, who put up seven points and seven boards.

Cocke County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Cocke County's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points over those games. As for South Greene, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Coming up, Cocke County will face off against Sevier County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cocke County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. As for South Greene, they have already played their next contest, a 46-25 loss against Dobyns-Bennett on the 10th.
