Softball Recap: Stratford Wins Going Away Against Joel Barlow

Stratford barely beat Joel Barlow the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 14-5 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Morgan Letizia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Stratford let Carolyne Burlone and Shyan Rolle run wild. Burlone went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI, while Rolle went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Rolle has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Dicks, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Stratford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Stratford's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Joel Barlow, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
