Savannah's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They blew past the Lafayette Fighting Irish, posting a 53-0 win. That looming 53-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Savages yet this season.

A big part of Savannah's victory came down to the chemistry between Caylor Schrick and his top target Makhi King. Schrick threw for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes while King gained 161 total yards and two touchdowns. King's longest reception was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

Savannah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 226 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

One reason for the win was Savannah's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Kegan Bechtold was especially locked on to Lafayette's QB and sacked him twice. Bechtold also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

Savannah's record now sits at 4-0. As for Lafayette, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Savannah will take on Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lafayette, they will face off against Summit Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
