Softball Recap: Amador Valley Takes a Loss

Amador Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Granada on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Matadors by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Dons have lost by just one run.

Kaylee Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mai Falcone was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. McKenna Charbonneau also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Amador Valley and nudges their season record down to 5-5. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Granada, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Amador Valley will face off against San Ramon Valley at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dons 3.3, the Wolves 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Granada, they will challenge Benicia at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
