Soccer Game Preview: Osceola vs. St. Petersburg

The Osceola Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the St. Petersburg Green Devils at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Osceola took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Boca Ciega onto the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Boca Ciega from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Nico D?Angio led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game back in December of 2024. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over St. Petersburg Catholic. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Green Devils were the better team in the second half.

Something new happened back in December of 2024 as Brady Weimerskirk saw his first action of the season, playing 80 minutes against St. Petersburg Catholic. Weimerskirk made the most of the opportunity, scoring two goals A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Osceola's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those six matches. As for St. Petersburg, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0-1.

Osceola was able to grind out a solid win over St. Petersburg when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Osceola since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
