Softball Recap: Gray-New Gloucester Comes Up Short

Gray-New Gloucester had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-7 to make it four. They came up short against the Leavitt Hornets, falling 13-1. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 20-3 to the Hornets when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Leavitt, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 5-0. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Leavitt's part, Hailey Turcotte made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Turcotte was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Reese Bilodeau looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Leah Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Brook Boutaugh was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Gray-New Gloucester will face off against Wells at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Leavitt will be paying especially close attention to the Patriots' match: after the Patriots face off against Freeport, they'll take on Leavitt again at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
