Volleyball Game Preview: Edwards County Lions vs. Fairfield Mules

Edwards County is 0-10 against Fairfield since September of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Lions will host the Mules at 7:00 p.m. Edwards County will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.

On Monday, Edwards County earned a 2-0 win over Eldorado.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Edwards County took both sets by at least 20 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-5.

Among those leading the charge was Jaycee Kolb, who had five aces and four digs. Those five aces gave her a new career-high.

Kolb wasn't the only good servers: Edwards County was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Fairfield didn't have quite enough to beat Carmi-White County on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The Mules haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Fairfield started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Edwards County's victory bumped their record up to 21-1. As for Fairfield, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-6.
