Preview: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. Sutton Mustangs

The Sandy Creek Cougars will take on the Sutton Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Sandy Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Sandy Creek strolled past the Jeffs with points to spare, taking the game 50-32. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sandy Creek.

Sandy Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Owen Oglesby, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Oliver Oglesby, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Oglesby hasn't dropped below two blocks for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Kaeden Schmidt, who scored six points along with six assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Sutton had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They snuck past David City with a 55-51 win. Sutton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Sandy Creek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Sutton, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7.

Sandy Creek came up short against the Mustangs in their previous matchup on Thursday, falling 38-30. Can Sandy Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
