Softball Recap: Struthers Drops Season-High Score on Mckinley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Struthers). They put the hurt on the McKinley Red Dragons with a sharp 14-6 victory on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the match before.

Katie Morris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Bailey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, two triples, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Samantha Minno, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Struthers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Struthers' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for McKinley, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Struthers will host Station Camp at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for McKinley, they will be playing at home against Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
