Baseball Recap: Sayre Sabres vs. Sullivan County Griffins

Sayre posted their closest win since April 24, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Sullivan County Griffins. This was a revenge game for the Sabres: when they faced off against the Griffins on Saturday, they had to take a 15-13 defeat.

Karter Green was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Sayre's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-17. As for Sullivan County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
