Football Recap: Cooper Skates Past Coronado with Ease

While Cooper put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Coronado. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 59-0. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 52-point advantage.

Cooper had a senior duo take command as Peyton Ewing gained 167 total yards and three touchdowns and Jaden Carrillo threw for 101 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. Ewing also set a new season-high mark in rushing yards with 119.

Cooper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 347 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Cooper didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Chris Assir, Cahmauri Titus, and Dmarian Murray picked up one apiece.

The victory got Cooper back to even at 2-2. As for Coronado, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cooper will square off against Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 944 yards in their previous games. As for Coronado, they will challenge Tascosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels' defense has only allowed 11.5 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
