Baseball Recap: Gateway Charter Comes Up Short

Gateway Charter fell victim to Master's Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Master's Academy Patriots by a score of 1-0. The Griffins just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Brandon Lackwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Gateway Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Master's Academy, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Coming up, Gateway Charter will head out on the road to face off against Estero at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Master's Academy, they will welcome St. Edward's at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (St. Edward's 1, Master's Academy 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
