Basketball Game Preview: McLeod Longhorns vs. Harleton Wildcats

The McLeod Longhorns will face off against the Harleton Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, McLeod had to suffer through a 56-18 loss at the hands of Hawkins. The Longhorns have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Harleton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by the Rebels to the tune of 54-8. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while the Rebels are ranked 1552nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Harleton is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points per game. As for McLeod, their loss dropped their record down to 12-16.

Things could have been worse for McLeod, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-23 loss to Harleton when the teams last played back in December of 2024.
