Pace took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Porter, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pace Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Porter Cowboys 3-1. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Cowboys on their field since April 13, 2021.

Luna Juarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pace saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Valeria Alvarado, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Pace now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Porter, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-2 record.

Looking ahead, Pace will welcome Donna North at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pace has three straight victories, Donna North has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Porter, they will head out to challenge Weslaco East at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weslaco East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
