Softball Recap: Central Christian Comets vs. Open Door Christian Patriots
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crestline, Central Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Open Door Christian Patriots by a score of 14-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory was some much needed relief for the Comets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Micah Kozel Steiner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Kozel Steiner was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Miller, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Edisa Plants was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Central Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Open Door Christian only posted an OBP of .400.
Central Christian's record is now 2-3. As for Open Door Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
