Punxsutawney extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Karns City Gremlins 22-19. Those 22 points were actually the fewest the Chucks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Jordan Rutan produced another solid performance rushing for 139 yards and one touchdown. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Another big playmaker for Punxsutawney was Teeg Hetrick, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Punxsutawney's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Breydon Trithart was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

As for Karns City, their record is now 3-2. They were up 19-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why Karns City lost, don't look at Cole Johnston. Despite the final result, he rushed for 65 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 36 yards and one TD.

Punxsutawney didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-14 victory against DuBois on the 26th. As for Karns City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 35-14 win against Central Clarion [Clarion/Clarion-Limestone/North Clarion] on the 26th.
