Basketball Recap: Whitney Takes a Loss

If Whitney was riding high fresh off their 74-24 takedown of Glenn last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Whitney Wildcats fell 60-53 to the Pioneer Titans on Friday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 53-52.

Whitney has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Pioneer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitney will head out to take on Oxford Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxford Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Whitney likes a good challenge. As for Pioneer, they will venture away from home to face off against Artesia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Artesia will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Pioneer surely won't give up without a fight.
