Soccer Recap: Champaign Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Urbana on Tuesday, Champaign Central came back down to earth. The Maroons came up short against the Morton Potters on Thursday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Champaign Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Morton are ranked 18th).

Champaign Central has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Morton, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

Champaign Central wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Centennial on the 27th. As for Morton, they are taking a road trip to take on East Peoria at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Morton are facing East Peoria at the right time seeing as East Peoria are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
