Softball Recap: Lone Star Victorious

Lone Star extended their postseason success on Friday against Liberty. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Redhawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Thursday.

Lairyn Bell looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Serenity Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Allen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Lone Star was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Lone Star and bumps their season record up to 18-9-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Liberty, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.

As of now, neither Lone Star nor the Redhawks have any future games scheduled.
