Basketball Recap: Roswell Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Roswell won the last time they faced Lovington and things went their way on Saturday too. The Roswell Coyotes strolled past the Lovington Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 59-43. The Coyotes pushed the score to 51-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why Lovington lost, don't look at Kayle Covington. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Covington has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Donnivan Gomez, who posted four points and three steals.

Roswell is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Lovington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

Roswell and Artesia will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Artesia comes in on four and Roswell on six. As for Lovington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Carlsbad at 7:00 p.m. Lovington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season.
