Soccer Game Preview: Carlsbad vs. Classical Academy

The Carlsbad Lancers will look to take advantage of their home pitch for the first time this season as they take on the Classical Academy Caimans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carlsbad's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Friday, Carlsbad didn't have quite enough to beat San Marcos and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, Carlsbad can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 461st, while San Marcos are ranked 161st).

Meanwhile, Classical Academy and Cathedral Catholic finished up their match with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

Classical Academy's draw gives them a new season record of 1-2-4. As for Carlsbad, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.
