Basketball Game Preview: Morton Panthers vs. Lanier Bulldogs

The Morton Panthers will head out to challenge the Lanier Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Morton is coming into the game hot, having won their last 12 games.

Last Friday, Morton was able to grind out a solid victory over Quitman, taking the game 51-44.

Meanwhile, Lanier unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 76-47 loss at the hands of Raymond. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since January 18, 2024.

Lanier's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-4. As for Morton, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Morton and Lanier were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2019, but Morton came up empty-handed after a 51-50 defeat. Can Morton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
