Volleyball Recap: Sandia Matadors vs. Los Lunas Tigers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sandia can now relate to. They came up short against the Los Lunas Tigers on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Matadors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-12, 25-19.

Kendall Fenstermacher paced Sandia's offense, picking up six kills. Fenstermacher really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with nine. Jayla Lacey controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Los Lunas was led to victory by Lauren Shiplet and Addison Cordova-Wolfe. Shiplet had 21 digs and a kill, while Cordova-Wolfe had seven digs. Shiplet is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last seven games she's played.

Sandia's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Los Lunas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
