Basketball Recap: Huss Skates Past Ashbrook with Ease

Huss waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They claimed a resounding 61-30 win over the Ashbrook Greenwave. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Huss' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brooklyn Swann, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Swann has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more boards the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Arielle Camp, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Huss smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Ashbrook saw an underclassman step up: sophomore AriAnnA Mcdowell dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. Mcdowell is becoming a predictor of Ashbrook's success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when she doesn't). Jakyra Sadler was another key player, putting up eight points.

Huss has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Ashbrook, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.

Huss won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Forestview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Huss' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Ashbrook, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Stuart W. Cramer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Stuart W. Cramer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
