Football Recap: Desert Pines Comes Up Short

Desert Pines was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 27-6 to the Chaparral Cowboys. The Jaguars lost against the Cowboys in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 0-0 score last time.

Sybol Hardinger went supernova for Chaparral, throwing for 176 yards and four touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Hardinger a new career-high in passing touchdowns. Asia Washington was another key player, rushing for 113 yards on only 15 carries.

Desert Pines' loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Chaparral, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Desert Pines will welcome Canyon Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Pines is facing Canyon Springs at the right time seeing as Canyon Springs is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Chaparral, they will venture away from home to square off against Durango at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral's defense has only allowed 12.9 points per game this season, so Durango's offense will have their work cut out for them.
