Recap: Miami East Vikings vs. Covington Buccs
The Miami East Vikings put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 40-33 victory over Covington. Given Miami East's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Covington is ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Miami East's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maryn Gross, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Gross has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckayah Musselman, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Miami East pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Covington, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miami East will take on Northridge at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Covington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Anna at 6:00 p.m. Anna is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
