Basketball Recap: Frankfort Takes a Loss

Frankfort played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Danville Warriors and fell 80-43. While losing is never fun, the Hot Dogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while the Warriors are ranked 170th).

When it comes to explaining why Frankfort lost, don't look at RJ Cornman. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Cornman a new career-high in blocks (two). Gabe Montalvo also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Even though they lost, Frankfort smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Cameron Mcmahon had an outrageously good game for Danville as he went 10 of 17 en route to 26 points and five assists. Mcmahon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Carter Ward was another key player, going 6 for 13 to rack up 13 points and four steals.

Frankfort dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Danville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frankfort will welcome North Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. As for Danville, they will look to defend their home court on February 14th against Guerin Catholic at 7:30 p.m.
