Baseball Recap: University Christian Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for University Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 12-4 margin over the Duval Charter Panthers on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Christians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Mason McLeod was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Lukas Brougham looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Bryson Harnage and Julius LaRosa did most of the damage at the plate: Harnage went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while LaRosa went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI LaRosa has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Wilson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

University Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Duval Charter struck out 12 times.

University Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Duval Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University Christian will face off against Baldwin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Duval Charter, they will challenge Old Plank Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Duval Charter also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 9.5 runs per game.
