Basketball Game Preview: Sheridan Generals vs. Unioto Shermans

The Sheridan Generals will head out on the road to square off against the Unioto Shermans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Sheridan sitting on seven straight wins and Unioto on nine.

Sheridan proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 30) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 victory over Marietta. The win was all the more spectacular given the Generals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Unioto got the win against Athens on Saturday by a conclusive 75-53. The Shermans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Unioto pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.6 points. As for Sheridan, their win bumped their record up to 19-5.

Sheridan couldn't quite finish off Unioto in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 57-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Unioto's Milee Smith, who dropped a double-double with 31 points and 17 rebounds. Now that Sheridan knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
