Baseball Game Preview: Redondo Union Sea Hawks vs. Torrance Tartars

For the first time this season, Redondo Union will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will welcome the Torrance Tartars at 6:00 p.m. Torrance took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Redondo Union, who comes in off a win.

Redondo Union took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over Lawndale. The Sea Hawks haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Jack Green looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Redondo Union is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Redondo Union got a massive performance out of Ian Brown, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Mikey Ricardo, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Torrance played against Santa Monica on Wednesday and lost via forfeit.

For Torrance's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hector Chavez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Redondo Union back to even at 3-3. As for Torrance, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Redondo Union couldn't quite finish off Torrance in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 and fell 6-4. Can Redondo Union avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
