Softball Game Preview: Columbia River Rapids vs. Hockinson Hawks

The Columbia River Rapids will venture away from home to square off against the Hockinson Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Columbia River came up short against Ridgefield and fell 7-2. The Rapids haven't had much luck with the Spudders recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Emily Hull was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Haley Corona was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hockinson came up short against Mark Morris two weeks ago, falling 19-3.

Hockinson has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Columbia River, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Columbia River has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hockinson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Columbia River's way against Hockinson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Columbia River made off with an 11-3 win. Will the Rapids repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
