Football Recap: Damonte Ranch Piles Up the Points Against Galena

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Spanish Springs, Damonte Ranch was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Galena Grizzlies 33-6. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 27 points or more this season.

Damonte Ranch can attribute much of their success to Christian Diehl, who threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught one score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Damonte Ranch proved: they limited Galena to a paltry 0.1 yards per carry. While eight picked up at least one total tackle, Amari Nash stood above the rest. He picked up 77 receiving yards and one TD. Damonte Ranch's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.5 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.27 on average over their last three games.

Damonte Ranch's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Miah Milan was the leader with three. Elias Tahu got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win snapped Damonte Ranch's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. As for Galena, they now also have a losing record of 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Damonte Ranch is set to face off against their familiar foe Reed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Galena will square off against rival Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
