Volleyball Recap: Evie Baslow Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Hilton Head Prep

Charleston Collegiate won the last time they faced Hilton Head Prep and things went their way on Thursday too. The Sundevils were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Dolphins. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sundevils.

Charleston Collegiate was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-20, 25-18.

Charleston Collegiate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evie Baslow led the charge by getting 13 kills, five digs, and five aces. The dominant performance also gave Baslow a new career-high in assists (five). Vika Vuyiv was another key player, getting 18 assists and four aces.

They weren't the only good server: Charleston Collegiate was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 13 aces in seven consecutive matchups.

Charleston Collegiate's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Hilton Head Prep, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleston Collegiate will challenge Faith Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hilton Head Prep, they will face off against Veritas Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
