Soccer Game Preview: Grapevine vs. Midlothian

The Grapevine Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Midlothian Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Grapevine's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Richland. The Mustangs' winning goal came courtesy of Chloe O'Steen.

Meanwhile, Midlothian had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.2 goals) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Friday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Lions. Give the Panthers' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Midlothian pushed their record up to 18-1-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those seven games. As for Grapevine, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9-4 record this season.

Grapevine came out on top in a nail-biter against Midlothian when the teams last played back in March of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Does Grapevine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Midlothian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
