Madeira won the last time they faced Oakcrest and things went their way on Saturday too. The Snails came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chargers, sneaking past 39-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Snails.

Oakcrest's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Newsome, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. The contest was Newsome's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Sweatman, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Madeira now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Oakcrest, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Madeira will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Seton at 6:00 p.m. As for Oakcrest, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 48-33 victory against Fredericksburg Christian on the 9th.
