Softball Preview: Nazareth Academy Roadrunners vs. Benet Academy Redwings
For the second straight game, Nazareth Academy will face off against Benet Academy. The Roadrunners will welcome the Redwings at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Nazareth Academy's offense. They came up short against Benet Academy on Wednesday, falling 7-0. The Roadrunners have struggled against the Redwings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
For Benet Academy's part, Sophia Rosner made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Rosner has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Hannah Baer was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Iovinelli, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances.
