Soccer Game Preview: Waverly vs. Hastings

The Waverly Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Hastings Tigers on Saturday. Hastings took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Waverly, who comes in off a win.

Waverly is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Plattsmouth a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. Ava Amos was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Something new happened on Thursday as Amos saw her first action of the season, playing 15 minutes against Plattsmouth. Amos made the most of the opportunity, scoring three goals A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Hastings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kearney Catholic.

The victory made it two in a row for Waverly and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those two contests. As for Hastings, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Waverly couldn't quite get it done against Hastings in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
